The Immune system serves to defend the body against infectious diseases. Immunity can be categorised on three types, the innate, adaptive and passive. Innate immunity includes physical barriers such as skin and mucous membranes, that help prevent harmful substances from entering the body.
Function of Immunity
Cells and components of the immune system provide disease protection which is referred to as immunity. Humans possess three forms for immunity: innate adaptive and passive. Innate immunity also known as natural immunity is a general form of a defence everyone is born with.

-Active natural immunity- The body produces antibodies in response to exposure to live pathogens.
-Active artificial immunity- Antibodies generated by body response in vaccines.
-Passive natural immunity- Antibodies transfer from mother into baby via placenta and breast milk.
What is the natural immune system?
Innate immunity, or natural immunities, provide general protection from birth. For instance, the skin acts as a barrier.It blocks germs entering the body. The immune system is able to identify and respond to foreign and potentially harmful invaders.
