A urinary tract infection can occur in any part of the urinary systemThis system which comprises kidneys ureters, bladders, and urethra. Normally, infections affect the lower urinary tract, specific bladder and urethra.Uti are very common here in Uganda.
Womens have a higher likelihood for getting a UTI than mens. This is largely because of the way they were created.A bladder infection which is painful and annoying, might escalate to serious health problems if it spreads to the kidneys!!
Healthcare officers frequently prescribe antibiotics for treating UTIs. There are also measures one can take for reducing the risk of developing a UTI.In short,it is better to prevent THAN to treat.
Symptoms of Urinary Tract Infections
UTIs do not always present symptoms,.But when they do, these are the symptoms to look out for-
-A powerful and continual urge to urinate!!!
-A burning sensation while urinating.
-Frequent urination with small amounts of urine.
-Cloudy-looks urine.
-Urine thats appears red, pink or cola-coloured indicating blood in the urines,
-Strong smelling urines.
-Pelvic pains in women especially in the central pelvic area and around pubic bones.
In older adults, UTI’s would be confused with other conditions.
Main Causes of UTI in males
In younger men, sex-related diseases (STDs) are the most common cause of UTIs. Prostate problems lead to UTIs. For example, an enlarged prostate (BHP). It is prevalent in older mens. It can obstruct urine flow, increasing the likelihood of bacterium buildup and resulting in an UTI.
Types of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI’s)
UTI’s arising from small microorganisms or germ, often bacteria. The different UTIs include,
-Cystitis – This is a bladder infection .It is the most common in uganda
-Urethritis – An infection of the urethra.
-Pyelonephritis – It affects the kidneys ,in both genders.
–Vaginitis – This is an infection of the vagina.
